“SET UP WAS FAST AND EASY RIGHT OUT OF THE BOX TOOK ME LESS THAN 15 MIN. TO CONNECT EVERYTHING TO TV (50 ” PLASMA BABY). I HAVE A LARGE MEDIA ROOM 25′ X 30′ HAD TO ADJUST FRONT TO SPEAKERS TO NEAR MAX. BUT SYSTEM DID NOT BLINK IT JUST POUNDED SOUND LIKE I WAS IN THE MOVIE. I PLAYED A STARWARS DVD AND SOUND FLOORED ME!!!! JUST LIKE I WAS IN A THEATER. HAS MULTIPLE SOUND SETTING FOR USER PREFERENCE. DISPLAY A LITTLE SMALL TO SEE AT DISTANCE IN DAY LIGHT EASIER IN DARK OR JUST PUT CLOSER TO WHERE SITTING.
ALL IN ALL A FANTASTIC SYSTEM LOVE THE TALL REAR SPEAKERS. I COULD GO ON AND ON ALL DAY ABOUT SYSTEM. WILL JUST SAY BUY IT YOU WONT BE DISAPPOINTED !!!!”

“This home theater sound system performs well. My mother purchased the first unit and has had nothing but praise for it. She had a Bose unit prior and swears this unit out performs it. So as the old saying goes, “mother knows best” . I went down and purchased one for myself and mother was correct.
The JVC performs well and delivers quality sound and picture. I would say it is well worth the price. I have played numerous movies and have never been dissapointed.
Do not be afraid to purchase this unit, you will get what you paid for and then some.”

“I received this system as a gift for my new home and have been very happy with it so far. The setup was relatively simple. The directions were easy to follow. There’s a lot to the system that I’m probably not utilizing. For example, you can arrange the speakers according to how the furniture is set up and it’ll program the sound specifics accordingly. I didn’t do that. We purchased Monster cables to hook up to the TV and the system and the sound quality is simply amazing. It was great before with the standard cables that came with the system, but the Monster cables just took it to a different level of pure bliss. We just love watching DVDs, where the movies include great range of sounds, like Star Wars.”

“This stereo system has been, for the most part, a great addition to our living room. We haven’t used this for our main DVD player, so I really can’t comment on the quality of the picture.
-Sound
We live in a fairly small apartment, so it doesn’t take a lot of sound to fill the place. In this setting, these small speakers perform well. I can’t comment on the ability to fill a larger home. The wood cones really do give a rich, warm tone to all of the sound without distorting or losing any of the sound quality. The speakers have a good range and don’t seem to overemphasize the low or high components of sound. The bass is a little weak, as can be expected from any small speakers like these (it actually seems above average for the size). There is a hookup for a subwoofer, but I have not used this.

-Interface
The receiver is great! It is in a small, sturdy, nice-looking aluminum box with wood accents around the bottom. There are very few, cleanly labeled buttons on the front that allow one to do just the basics (play and control a cd/dvd, navigate radio stations, and control volume). In order to do much of anything else, like set radio presets, navigate menus on a dvd, adjust sound, etc. you must have the remote. This may be a bit of a challenge for some, but I am willing to trade this inconvenience for the clean, simple interface on the box.
-Radio tuner
This is where I have my main complaint with this stereo. Using the included radio antenna, we could get our local NPR station, but with lots of interference, almost as if it was picking up several stations at once. We purchased an amplified antenna from Radio Shack to see if it improved at all and it has made listening bearable but still not great. Our signal at home is fine, in the cars right outside we have no issues and even our clock radio gets better reception. It seems to be prejudiced mainly against NPR because most of the other stations in town come in with no problems.”

“When I bought this 2 years ago for $499 and I loved it.
However, I’ve since purchased a plasma hdtv, an hd-dvd player and a blu ray player.
I can’t get surround sound from these systems to the receiver of this unit easily because it has no hdmi inputs and only one optical input which I’m using for the tv.
This requires me to switch the optical between devices I want surround on.
I suppose that I could use some other type of input but as any video/audio nut will tell you, they don’t want to use anything but the best quality connection.”

“Very Impressive Home Theater System
This JVC DS-TP450 home theater system has been one of the better purchases in my life. I am very pleased with the results of this product. It has given me everything that I had hoped out of it and more. I purchased the system for around $300 from etronics.com. This system contains 5 small yet very explosive sounding 2 way satellite speakers and a 120 watt powered subwoofer that is sure to put that extra kick into your seat during those very low frequency sounds. The receiver itself, which powers all of the components, produces 500 watts of power. That’s 100 watts per speaker and is certainly enough to get those high and mid frequency sounds to your ears. JVC has done a very good job on putting together a system that is affordable and still puts out a high quality of sound and entertainment.
High Points
This stereo system has a very impressive sound to it. With its six hook up options that include, DVD, VCR, TV SOUND, CD, TAPE/CDR, and FM/AM, it is sure to be compatible with almost any type of hardware that you are wanting to be used through the system. The system has a FM/AM antenna that allows you to listen to the radio at the push of a button. These 6 setting can be easily used by simply pressing a button on the remote that comes with the unit. Every setting on the receiver can be adjusted from the remote including the sound settings such as treble, bass and subwoofer level. This makes for an effortless way to adjust the DS-TP450 system right from your seat.
The subwoofer that comes in this package is a 12” JVC speaker that really gives that extra low down bass sound to the system. It is fully adjustable from the remote or can be turned up or down by using a knob on the back of the enclosure. The subwoofer and its size helped to seal the deal with me on purchasing this system. I, who am a big fan when it comes to bass, was very impressed the first time that I heard the pounding that this sub has to offer. This system has been played every day since I purchased it, not just for music but I have it hooked up to my TV, which I have turned the speakers off on to hear only the JVC speakers. This system has impressed my friends a lot. They also enjoy the crisp sounds that the speakers exert and are amazed by the pounding bass that is produced by the 12” sub. I have the system hooked up in a 14’ x 14’ room and have more then once had to turn the stereo down do to the high output of sound that it produces. My parents have the same exact stereo as myself, and have it hooked up in our living room to their big screen TV. They too, very much enjoy the sound of it and I find them turning the subwoofer down all the time do to the fact that it produces such a mean thump. These are just a few of what I consider to be the high points of this system.
Low Points
This home theater package has very many high points, but also has a few lows. It has a very impressive sound out put when in a smaller room such as a bed room but in a larger room, lacks that extra push from the smaller speakers to completely feel the room. It also has a hard time with producing sounds loud enough to overcome the sound produced by the sub, resulting in a very boomy or bassy sound requiring the subs level to be turned down. The choices of sound setting such as the type of surround that one wants to listen to like Hall, Live Dance, Pavilion, or DSP off, offers little adjustment to what speakers you want to produce what levels of sounds. This results in a lack of being able to personalize each setting. When changing from the different types of surround settings the sub will be almost cut out of the music produced which in my opinion makes the system complete. The lack of not being able to adjust the sound output of the subwoofer kind of disappointed me when trying to get the ultimate sound and feeling out of the system.
The remote as mentioned by other reviewers is a little difficult to understand at first and takes a lot of trial and error to figure out. I thought that this could be simplified a little more by eliminating the use of one button for the adjustment of multiple settings. The size of the receiver has also been mentioned by previous viewers. I so far haven’t had a problem with the over all size or the receiver but would have to say that it is rather large as compared to a system like the Bose Lifestyle 18 Theater system which is very slim. There are few low points about this system, but I thought that one might want to know about the couple of problems that I have had with it.
Recommendations
I highly recommend you to buying this system. It puts out a very impressive sound and has a lot of features that are also found on those very expensive and sometimes over rated systems. This product has impressed me in many ways and I would recommend that you purchase it as your new home theater system.”

“This product is the best home theater system, I purchased this item at Brandsmart for $299.00 and todate I have no regrets. The quality of sound is excellent, especially where there are movies done in 5.1 surround sound. The subwoofer shakes the entire house. The system is very powerful and clean even with the volume level at a record high. The receiver could have been a bit slimmer.the remote control takes some time getting adjusted to.The radio reception is pretty good. The system also produces good quality sound from dvds that are not 5.1 surround sound.this system is comparable to all those expensive units out there.I would recommend this system to anyone who is interested in a home theatre system.”
